Looking for a good horror movie on Netflix? I got you! I watch a LOT of horror movies, so instead of just throwing every horror movie currently on Netflix into one giant list, I went through and picked out the ones I actually recommend.
There’s a little bit of everything here too — supernatural horror, psychological thrillers, slashers, creature features, sci-fi horror, creepy international movies, and some horror comedies for when you want something spooky without taking it too seriously.
So whether you want something genuinely creepy, something bloody, or just a fun horror movie for movie night, here are some of the best horror movies on Netflix right now!
Quick note: Netflix changes its library pretty often, and availability can vary by location. This list is based on what’s available on Netflix in the U.S. as of October 2026.
Supernatural and Creepy Horror Movies
If ghosts, demons, curses, creepy houses, and things that go bump in the night are your favorite kind of horror, start here.
Crimson Peak
Cimson Peak is more gothic romance than straight-up terrifying horror, but visually, it’s gorgeous.
A young woman moves into an enormous decaying mansion with her new husband and quickly realizes both the house and the family have some very dark secrets.
If you want ghosts, gothic architecture, creepy family drama, and lots of atmosphere, this is a great spooky-season watch.
I would say it’s also a cute date night movie cause of the romance part of it!
Gothika
Halle Berry plays a psychiatrist who suddenly wakes up as a patient inside the psychiatric hospital where she works – with no memory of the murder she’s accused of committing.
It’s supernatural, mysterious, and very early-2000s horror in the best way.
Not a bad watch.
The Black Phone
A young boy is abducted and locked in a basement by a masked killer. Then a disconnected phone on the wall starts ringing.
On the other end? The killer’s previous victims.
The Black Phone mixes serial-killer horror with supernatural elements, and I definitely recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet.
I would say it wasn’t super scary BUT it was a fantastic watch and with the kids being the main characters and it taking place in the late 70s it had a Stranger Things feel to it.
Incantation
OMG – If you like found-footage horror, check out Incantation.
This Taiwanese horror movie follows a woman trying to protect her daughter after breaking a religious taboo years earlier and becoming connected to a terrifying curse.
It’s creepy, strange, and gets increasingly unsettling as it goes. DEFINITELY worth a watch.
The Sixth Sense
The Sixth Sense is a classic for a reason. A child psychologist begins working with a young boy who claims he can see dead people, leading to one of the most famous supernatural horror stories of the late ’90s.
I mean – if you haven’t seen this, IDK where in the world you have been, but even if you have seen it, it’s a classic and you can now re-watch it on Netflix.
Even if you already know the big twist, this one is still worth rewatching for the creepy atmosphere and story.
The Ring
If you somehow haven’t seen The Ring yet, spooky season is as good a time as any.
After watching a mysterious videotape, viewers supposedly have only seven days left to live. What follows is one of my favorite kinds of horror: creepy imagery, an unsettling mystery, and a supernatural curse you absolutely do not want anything to do with.
This was one of the first horror films that scared the crap out of me.
The Ritual
Four friends hike into the Scandinavian wilderness and make the very bad horror-movie decision to take a shortcut through the woods.

Obviously, things do not go well.
The Ritual starts as survival horror but gets progressively weirder and more supernatural. If creepy forests and folk horror are your thing, watch this one.
This is one of my favorite horror films of all times. And I’ve watched it numerous times.
Oculus
A woman becomes convinced that an antique mirror is responsible for the horrifying events that destroyed her family years earlier.
I love horror movies involving cursed or haunted objects, and Oculus is a good one if you like movies where you slowly stop knowing what’s real.
I thought it was well done and spooky.
No One Gets Out Alive
A woman desperately looking for an affordable place to live rents a room in a run-down boarding house.
Unfortunately, the cheap rent comes with some seriously disturbing problems.
No One Gets Out Alive is dark, claustrophobic, supernatural, and increasingly bizarre.
Wait till the end. Just you wait.
Psychological Horror and Thrillers
Sometimes people are scarier than ghosts.
These movies lean more into mind games, obsession, paranoia, twists, and the general feeling that something is VERY wrong.
Split
Three teenage girls are kidnapped by a man with multiple personalities, and they quickly realize that one particularly dangerous personality may be emerging.
James McAvoy is easily the standout here, and if you like psychological thrillers with horror elements, Split is worth watching.
You also get to see a young Anya Taylor-Joy – she does a great job too. Really enjoyed this movie when I watched it. More Thriller than Horror but still good!
Smile 2
If creepy smiling people make you uncomfortable, the Smile movies really know how to use that against you. Watch Smile 1 first, and then enjoy this one. Apparently it’s free on Pluto TV.
In Smile 2, a pop star preparing for a world tour begins experiencing increasingly disturbing events connected to the same supernatural entity from the first movie.
And yes… I think you can still enjoy this one if you haven’t recently watched the original, but I highly recommend watching Smile first as it will give you more context.
House at the End of the Street
This is the newer one – Jennifer Lawrence stars as a teenager who moves with her mother into a new neighborhood and discovers that a brutal murder happened in the house next door.
She becomes close with the family’s surviving son, and — because this is a horror movie — there is considerably more going on than she realizes.
Just a fun ride – especially if you haven’t seen the original.
Influencer
Hidden Gem! An influencer traveling alone in Thailand meets another traveler who seems friendly and offers to show her around.
What could possibly go wrong?
A lot.
Influencer is one of those movies that’s best watched without knowing too much beforehand, so I’ll leave it at that.
There is also Influencer 2 out there somewhere but IMO this one is way better.
Creep
A videographer answers an online ad to film a stranger for the day at his remote home.
At first the guy is just… awkward.
Then increasingly weird.
Then extremely creepy.
Creep proves you don’t need a massive budget or tons of gore to make someone deeply uncomfortable.
Bone Lake
A couple arrives at a secluded lake house for a romantic getaway only to discover another couple has apparently booked the same house.
Instead of immediately getting the hell out of there like sensible people, the four decide to stay.
You can imagine how well that works out.
The Perfection
I REALLY don’t want to tell you much about The Perfection because this is one of those movies that’s more fun when you have no idea where it’s going.
It starts with two talented cellists connected to the same elite music academy.
And then things get weird.
Really weird.
If you like twisted psychological horror and movies that keep changing direction, give this one a try.
Slashers, Killers and Survival Horror
Sometimes you don’t need ghosts at all. Sometimes having someone trying to murder you is plenty.
Friday the 13th
I mean… You can’t have a horror-movie marathon without at least a few classics.
Camp Crystal Lake has one extremely unfortunate history involving camp counselors, murder, and a certain family that would eventually become one of the most famous names in horror.
If you’ve somehow never watched Friday the 13th, now’s your chance.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Leatherface is back.
A group of young people travels to a nearly abandoned Texas town with plans to start a new community, only to discover that they aren’t quite as alone as they thought.
If you’re looking for chainsaws, violence, and a very angry Leatherface, here you go.
Green Room
This movie stresses me out.
A punk band witnesses something they absolutely were not supposed to see after performing at a remote venue and ends up trapped backstage by a group of violent neo-Nazis.
There’s nothing supernatural here. It’s just brutal survival horror where everything feels disturbingly possible.
Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight
A group of teenagers attending an offline camp in the Polish wilderness gets separated from the group.
Unfortunately for them, something very violent is waiting in the woods.
It’s a fun pick if you’re in the mood for a bloody slasher and want something outside the usual American horror lineup.
The Fear Street Movies
I’m giving Fear Street its own section because this isn’t just one movie!
The movies are based on R.L. Stine’s Fear Street books and follow the cursed town of Shadyside across different time periods.
Fear Street Part One: 1994
A group of teenagers discovers that the horrifying events that have plagued their town for generations may all be connected.
Fear Street Part Two: 1978
The story jumps back to Camp Nightwing in 1978, where a killer goes on a murderous rampage at summer camp.
If you’re a slasher fan, this may be your favorite of the trilogy.
Fear Street Part Three: 1666
The final movie travels all the way back to 1666 to reveal the origins of Shadyside’s curse before bringing the story back around to 1994.
Watch these in order — they’re basically one long horror story.
Creature Features, Monsters and Sci-Fi Horror
Aliens, monsters, killer creatures, mysterious things in the woods… this section has a little bit of everything.
Alien
A crew aboard a commercial spacecraft responds to a distress signal and discovers a life-form they really, REALLY should have left alone.
Alien is an absolute horror classic and still one of the best combinations of science fiction and horror ever made.
This is a classic and fave movie franchise of mine of all times.
Aliens
If you finish Alien, keep going!
Aliens picks up with Ripley returning to confront the creatures again, but this time the movie goes much bigger and more action-heavy.
I love both, but they have very different vibes.
The Ruins
A group of tourists vacationing in Mexico visits a remote archaeological site and finds themselves trapped there.
And there is something VERY wrong with the ruins.
This one’s part vacation horror, part survival movie, and part body horror. Definitely don’t watch it if body horror makes you squeamish.
Lake Placid
Giant crocodile.
That’s really all you need to know. 😂
Lake Placid is one of those creature features that’s creepy, funny, ridiculous, and just plain fun.
Bird Box
Something mysterious has devastated society, causing people who see it to kill themselves.
The survivors’ only option is terrifyingly simple: don’t look.
Sandra Bullock stars as a mother attempting a dangerous journey with two children while blindfolded.
Nope
Honestly some people hate it some people love it – and I LOVE IT.
Jordan Peele’s Nope follows siblings who own a horse ranch in California and begin noticing something extremely strange happening in the skies above their property.
The less you know before watching it, the better.
It’s sci-fi, horror, mystery, and spectacle all rolled together.
Bloody Horror and Body Horror
These are for nights when you don’t mind things getting… messy.
Evil Dead
Cabin in the woods?
Ancient book?
People foolishly reading things out loud that very clearly should NOT be read out loud?
You know this isn’t going anywhere good.
If you’re in the mood for demonic possession and a whole lot of blood, Evil Dead delivers.
Immaculate
Sydney Sweeney stars as a young American nun who joins a remote convent in Italy and unexpectedly becomes pregnant despite being a virgin.
What initially appears to be a miracle very quickly becomes something much darker.
Religious horror, creepy convents, body horror – this gets pretty intense.
Horror That’s Actually Fun
Not every horror movie needs to leave you staring nervously into the darkness afterward.
Sometimes I just want murder, monsters, jokes, and a good time.
Ready or Not
A newlywed discovers that marrying into a wealthy family comes with one extremely unfortunate wedding-night tradition.
She has to play a game.
The game is hide-and-seek.
And her new family is trying to kill her.

Ready or Not is violent, funny, ridiculous, and a lot of fun!
Heart Eyes
What if a Valentine’s Day rom-com had a serial killer?
That’s basically the setup of Heart Eyes, which follows two coworkers who are mistaken for a couple and targeted by a killer who murders couples on Valentine’s Day.
It’s a slasher, but it’s also funny and surprisingly cute.
M3GAN
A roboticist creates an incredibly advanced AI doll designed to protect and bond with a child.
As you can probably guess, M3GAN takes the word “protect” a little too seriously.
M3GAN is creepy, funny, campy, and very entertaining.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.
It’s Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice…
but with zombies.
Elizabeth Bennet is still dealing with Mr. Darcy, marriage, class, and society – she’s just also highly trained at killing the undead.
Is it ridiculous? Absolutely.
That’s why it’s fun.
